YL Missions are the practical assessment of your learning from the Modules. The below resources provide the information you require to complete them at your section meetings. Remember that if you’re already taking an active role in your section, then you may have completed these already!
Read through the instructions below before progressing.
How do I complete the Missions?
- Read through the each of the sections of each Mission to see what you need to do and the evidence required
- Complete the Mission keeping notes/a logbook as evidence
- Submit your evidence and we’ll record it against your Online Scout Manager (OSM) records for your Group’s leaders to see.
Which Modules do I need to do?
To complete your Young Leader Award, you must complete all 11 Modules and the 4 Missions by the time you turn 18, but the earlier the better.
If you are not sure which Missions you have already completed, email us to ask and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
The Missions:
Mission 1 – Game
Plan and run a minimum of three games with the section you are volunteering with. At least one game should take place indoors and one outdoors.
Mission 2 – Activity
Plan and run an activity (not a game) with the section you are volunteering with, supporting the achievements of one of the section’s activity badges.
Mission 3 – Programme Planning
Take the section’s programme ideas to a programme planning meeting supporting the delivery of Youth Shaped Scouting.
Mission 4 – Delivery
Take responsibility for organising and running part of the section programme such as linking events, camps, an entire Challenge Award, or focus on a specific topic/skill to develop.
