Scouts County Hillwalking – Snowdonia

Hillwalking for Scouts, Explorer Scouts and adult members. May include permit training and assessment if requested.

Indoor accommodation been booked at Yr Hafod Scout Activity Centre in Snowdonia for the weekend of 24-26 September.

This is a fantastic walking location, offering routes straight from the hut door that take in spectacular views and varying levels of difficulty, from easy strolls around the lake, to very challenging scrambling routes, and everything in-between.

This trip is open to all Scouts in School Years 8 & 9, Explorer Scouts and adult members of Cambridgeshire Scouts, with any level of experience in the hills, to enjoy a weekend of hillwalking under the guidance of experienced hillwalking permit holders. Scouts and Explorers can come without their own Leaders – we will look after them!

Yr Hafod is also the perfect venue for training and assessment for all levels of hillwalking permit, and so we can offer training and/or assessment over the weekend. Just let us know when you fill in the application form.

Limited minibus transport is available, with priority given to Scouts and Explorers.

Schedule

• Friday evening – Make our way to the accommodation – Allocate walking groups for the weekend.

• Saturday – full day in the hills. Permit training or assessment (if requested) will cover as much navigation, leadership, and general practical subject matter as is possible.

• Saturday evening – choose routes for Sunday, then chill out, (plus a spot of night navigation for permit assessments).

• Sunday morning to mid-afternoon – a shorter day on the hill.

• Sunday afternoon – clean accommodation ready for handover & return to Cambridgeshire.

Cost

The cost for the weekend is £78, which covers accommodation and all meals from Saturday breakfast to Sunday lunch. A £28 deposit is required within 14 days of booking, or your booking may be cancelled.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
